Exclusive attention for Salvadorans abroad
For decades, the country’s structural situation and lack of opportunities forced Salvadorans to leave the country. But the country’s recent transformation has been so significant that it started a process of reverse migration.
Also, new direct investments have allowed the diversification of national investment to all regions of the country.
To attend the natural interest of Salvadorans abroad, we created the Diaspora Investment Directorate Salvadoran and Municipalities, which is one of the three pillars of the Investment and Export Promotion Agency of El Salvador (Invest in El Salvador). This is a unique initiative in the region and the continent.
The Directorate of Salvadoran Diaspora is responsible for attracting and promoting the investments of all those Salvadorans who reside in a foreign country, facilitating investment processes through technical advice and guidance for the establishment, development, and subsequent attention of the project.

The services offered by the Directorate of Salvadoran Diaspora are aimed at Salvadoran investors from abroad who have generated capital and are interested in developing businesses in the country.
Incentive and exclusive benefits for Salvadorans abroad
El Salvador is currently experiencing a climate of security and a renaissance as a result of the successful strategy promoted by the government of President Nayib Bukele. This has caused 6 out of 10 Salvadorans to be willing to return to the country*.
Given this reverse migration, Congress has approved the Special Transitory Law of Incentives and Preferential Treatment for the Repatriation of Salvadorans, to benefit and grant facilities to Salvadorans residing abroad who decide to return to settle permanently in the country.
