El Salvador and India sign cooperation agreement on innovation and cybersecurity

The Salvadoran government seeks to strengthen “the joint work” of both nations in technology issues.

The government of El Salvador and India signed over the weekend a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on issues of innovation and cybersecurity.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Hill Tinoco, informed Monday that the memorandum seeks to “strengthen the joint work” of the two countries in both branches of technology.

Minister Hill also said that this agreement will serve for the “natural disaster warning” program. “We are also contemplating short-term projects on infrastructure, medicines, and strengthening of systems,” said the foreign minister.

The Salvadoran diplomat assured that with the meeting they felt “not only an impressive support” for El Salvador’s priority strategic projects, but also “a feeling of brotherhood”. The signing of the agreement was also attended by the Secretary of Innovation of the Presidency, Daniel Méndez.

India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, said that the meeting with the Salvadoran officials “was fruitful and meaningful” and assured that they are moving forward in “many bilateral collaborations”.

Minister Hill also said that they discussed the country’s interest in “attracting investments in renewable energy and innovation”.
