El Salvador is receiving visitors that it did not have post-pandemic, especially from Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, assured the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez.

El Salvador surpassed the projected goal for visitor arrivals during 2024. According to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), 3.9 million foreigners decided to visit the national territory, which means 17% more compared to 2023.
During a television interview, the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, commented that of the total number of tourists, 80% are foreigners, that is, 3.2 million, who stayed more than one night in El Salvador.
The official pointed out that there were more tourists and fewer excursionists, of which 39 % came from the United States, 26 % from Guatemala, and Honduras remains with 16 %, while 19 % are from the rest of the world.
“Our Central American neighbors are visiting us more and those who come from the United States and Canada are staying the whole month, because they are in their winter”, he commented.
Likewise, it is important to highlight, according to Valdez, that by 2024 El Salvador received visitors that it did not have post-pandemic, for example, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, as well as Germany, England, among others, attracted by the rebirth of the country and the security that currently exists.
On the other hand, the minister commented that “El Salvador continues to be the leader in the Central American region in international visitor arrivals”, so it is expected that organizations such as UN Tourism will once again highlight the excellent work done by the government of President Nayib Bukele.
