The San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez International Airport is the gateway that connects the country to the world.
To promote economic development and the “Open Skies” strategy, El Salvador invested USD 56 million to expand the International Airport’s passenger terminal, which included the construction of a three-story building, five new waiting rooms with long corridors and double-height passenger lounges, five boarding bridges for wide-body aircraft, a commercial area with 14 shops, and an immigration area with 10 counters and five airline counters.
In 2023, the country’s main air terminal handled more than 4.5 million passengers in arrivals, departures, and connections, representing an increase of 32% over 2022. It handled 41 thousands commercial flight operations and passengers who traveled for leisure, work, or to close investment deals.
The growth of these historic figures is the result of the excellent security climate in the country, the international promotion as a tourist and investment destination, as well as the global events that have been taking place.
Committed to the promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding, the International Airport of El Salvador has a room and two booths for breastfeeding, accredited by the Ministry of Health and in line with international standards.
