Requirements to visit El Salvador
El Salvador has been recognized by Lonely Planet (one of the largest travel guide publishing companies worldwide) as one of the 30 best tourist destinations to visit in 2023.
El Salvador offers free mobility to citizens of Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua to facilitate transit without using a passport.
Eligible citizens visiting for less than 90 days do not require a visa for transit travel. You can check if you need a visa and the types of visas.
For citizens of countries that require a Consular or Consulted Visa, the Government of El Salvador has recently implemented an online application system that allows anyone to process it from anywhere in the world. To do this, you only need to follow these steps:
- Check the following link https://www.migracion.gob.sv to see if you need a visa to enter El Salvador.
- To start the process of applying for a Special Entry Permit (PEI), go to the website https://elsalvadorpei.migracion.gob.sv/.
- Create an account on the website.
- Complete the application form with the required information and attach the necessary documents.
- Pay the USD 100 application fee and continue with the process.
- Your PEI application will be reviewed and validated.
- Your PEI application may be approved, denied, or canceled. You will be notified via email.
