AES El Salvador invested $ 3.4 million to optimize service by 2023

The energy service improvement and expansion projects benefited more than 4,000 families living in communities, mainly in rural areas of the country.

More than 4,000 families living in communities, mainly in rural areas of the country, benefited from the various projects of Normalization of Lines to Third Parties and Electrification executed by AES El Salvador in 2023 to optimize the energy service.

The company informed that the normalization of distribution lines consisted of replacing old, inadequate, and deteriorated electrical installations that were built by uncertified individuals, with new and modern energy networks that comply with the technical regulations of the Superintendencia General de Electricidad y Telecomunicaciones (Siget).

AES El Salvador also indicated that the modernization of power lines guarantees the reliability and continuity of the energy service, thus promoting the economic and social development of the beneficiary communities. During 2023, AES allocated $2.4 million to bring this benefit to more than 3,500 customers through the execution of 50 projects.

The company also emphasized that it continues to expand electricity distribution networks in rural areas of the country to ensure that the vital energy resource reaches more Salvadorans. In 2023, the distribution company invested $1 million in more than 25 rural electrification projects that benefited approximately 700 families.

Elva Tobar, a beneficiary of one of the projects, considers that access to electricity is fundamental for the development of her family’s daily activities, so she indicated that the company’s projects have allowed her family to have a better quality of life.

“We are grateful for having carried out the project because this allows us to use energy to connect our appliances and have a better quality of life,” he said.

With these initiatives, AES El Salvador continues to accelerate the future of energy in the regions where it operates, boosting economic and social development through access to optimal, constant, and safe electricity service.
