The French Lyceum was born in 1971 as a product of visionary minds that recognized the need to contribute to the development of Salvadoran culture through intellectual exchange with the French Republic. For this reason, a non-profit association is undertaken, with the support of the Alliance Française, whose main mission is the establishment and administration of a bicultural and bilingual primary and secondary school in Spanish and French.
The French Lyceum of San Salvador “Antoine et Consuelo de Saint-Exupéry” is an establishment linked to the Agency for the Teaching of French Abroad (AEFE) under convention. The latter is a public French national institution of an administrative nature. It is under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is in charge of monitoring and running the network of French educational establishments abroad. This network, unique in the world, is present in 138 countries with 552 establishments and educates more than 380,000 students of all nationalities.
