On November 29, 1993, we began operations with the registration of CNR de OPA (Operaciones y Proyectos Aduaneros, S.A. de C.V.), which had previously operated as Oficina Profesional Aduanera under the direction of its founder and president, Dr. Salvador Guillermo Mónico Díaz, laying the foundation for the birth of several sister companies with regional presence in the coming years.
In October 1997, MT Carga Expreso de El Salvador, S.A. de C.V. was founded, starting its cargo operations in January 1998. Its founding partners were Mrs. Gianina Odio (representing Mar y Tierra Costa Rica) and Mr. Salvador G. Mónico Fórtiz (representing OPA), initially with only 2 collaborators.
In 2002, Servicios Integrados de Centroamérica, S.A. de C.V. was established to integrate services such as courier, finance, HR, asset security, and administration for OPA and MT.
In 2003, Centro de Distribución Regional, S.A. de C.V. was founded as part of the vision to provide a more comprehensive service of fiscal and simple warehousing.
In 2006, we moved to a larger facility, now employing 84 collaborators. At this point, our vision expanded not only to be recognized as a leading company in logistics services but also as a company that generates more employment opportunities nationally and regionally.
In 2008, we internationalized with the establishment of GLC Honduras; in 2009, GLC Guatemala; in 2010, GLC Zona Libre de Colón in Panama; in 2013, GLC United States and GLC Nicaragua; in 2016, GLC Costa Rica; in 2018, GLC Colombia and GLC Panamá Pacífico; and in 2019, GLC Dominican Republic.
We changed our corporate name, and now we are GLC… with 17 companies regionally, present in 9 countries, creating stable direct employment opportunities with over 800 collaborators across the region, Salvadoran and Latin American hands moving cargo around the world.
As an essential services company in 2020, we expanded our warehousing capacity by opening new Distribution Centers in the region, increasing our storage capabilities, and providing an immediate response to the need for nearshoring for our clients. We also updated our WMS system to allow them to view their operations and inventories online and in real-time.
