The Innovation Secretariat, in partnership with the company Cisco, is training the technology teams from various government institutions so they can better safeguard assets and mitigate the risks of cyber attacks.

The Innovation Secretariat of the Presidency and the information technology specialized company Cisco held yesterday the second Cybersecurity Meeting 2024, where they presented the results of the implementation of security capabilities and introduced the latest trends for the protection of digital infrastructures.
Representatives from the technology teams of different government institutions participated in the event, receiving new tools to strengthen their data protection skills.
Denis Pocasangre, Undersecretary of Innovation, explained to “Diario El Salvador” that in partnership with the international company, they are working on building a national digital security ecosystem that allows different state organizations to ensure the safeguarding of assets and mitigate the risks of cyber threats.
“As the Innovation Secretariat of the Presidency, we are committed to the digital transformation of the country. In that sense, we are working hand in hand with all institutions to strengthen the digital security ecosystem and set up an infrastructure that can respond to the different needs of public services. We want to make service provision more agile and position El Salvador as a technological hub,” he pointed out.
In this sense, the official indicated that meetings like yesterday’s allow the secretariat to assess the current situation of each entity and identify needs that can be addressed with the tools offered by Cisco Umbrella, the cybersecurity division of the American firm.
“We are making progress in building the digital ecosystem. In that sense, we are moving forward with an international reference framework that allows us to measure the situation in each of the institutions and advance in the implementation of policies and practices to be more effective in mitigating technological risks,” he pointed out.
On the other hand, some initiatives that remain active for the general public were presented, such as talent training through the Superior School of Innovation and Technology (ESIT).
“Today, with the company Cisco, which is a strategic ally in the processes of digital transformation, we will learn about some of the main results of the implementation of digital skills capacity tools. At the same time, we are training young talents […] The Innovation Secretariat, the Superior School of Innovation and Technology, and Cisco offer online courses that Salvadorans can access,” he added.
