This agreement is a step forward for trade facilitation between both nations.

El Salvador and the Dominican Republic signed a cooperation agreement on customs matters and informed the Directorate General of Customs of El Salvador (DGA).

During his visit to the Dominican Republic, Benjamín Mayorga, head of the DGA, commented that the signing of the agreement with the General Directorate of Customs is a step forward for the facilitation of trade between both nations.

Mayorga said that it is part of the mutual recognition of the figure of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) that will bring more efficiency and security in trade at border points.

“The customs agreement between the Dominican Republic and El Salvador is part of the achievements of President Nayib Bukele that promises significant benefits such as the exchange of best practices, training programs, and collaboration,” he said.

For his part, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, Director of Customs of the Dominican Republic, said that the alliance will strengthen ties that will contribute to improving preventive processes and regulations.

Sanz explained that this agreement seeks to counteract and mitigate the different types of customs violations that occur in commercial and non-commercial operations in both countries.
