El Salvador has transformed its public health system, which now offers better services to the population in need. This new path is characterized by innovation in medical services, equipment with new technologies, strengthening the first level of care, and an approach based on the prevention and detection of diseases promptly, including COVID-19 and its variants, whose optimal approach has positioned the country at a global level.

To guarantee universal access to health care for the population and expand coverage, investments have been made in the new hospital infrastructure, such as the construction of Hospital El Salvador, the only specialized center in the region for the care of patients with COVID-19, and the implementation of the Nacer con Cariño Law, which establishes a model of quality and warmth of care focused on the mother, her baby, and her family.
