Marla Jo Fisher, in the travel section of The Orange Country Register, compared El Salvador with Hawaii and gave an advantage to the Central American country as a tourist destination taking into account the economic factor.

Marla Jo Fisher, the journalist for The Orange Country Register of Illinois, highlighted El Salvador in her travel section as an ideal tourist destination to visit nowadays because of its beauty, nature, the kindness of its people, and because it is “economical”.

Fisher only knew El Salvador for its volcanoes and for being the country of world-class waves, however, the journalist was surprised when she visited this tourist destination.

The traveler was surprised by the low prices of the restaurants in El Salvador, and could not believe the cost of the “delicious pupusas” that she was able to taste for only $0.75 each. The journalist was fascinated by the total price of a shared dinner in a pupusería ($13.75).

In addition to highlighting El Salvador as an “economical” destination, Fisher recommended visiting the country for the beauty of its volcanoes, forests, and waterfalls, as she experienced the Don Juan waterfalls, located 6 kilometers from the town of Concepción de Ataco.

Fisher was fascinated with the short distances between tourist destinations within the country, since El Salvador is “compact”, as described by the traveler, who visited the beaches and the Ruta de las Flores, and even Lake Coatepeque. The journalist included the prices of transfers and restaurants in her article to highlight how “economical” it is as a destination.

Marla Fisher also compared El Salvador with Hawaii, since she considers that they are similar destinations and that the Central American country is more profitable due to its prices.

“Hawaii has volcanoes. El Salvador has volcanoes. Hawaii has surfing beaches. El Salvador has surfing beaches. Hawaii has forests and jungles. El Salvador has forests and jungles. Hawaii is expensive. El Salvador… is not,” Fisher compared.

The journalist also explained in her article that the reality in El Salvador changed with the eradication of gangs, thanks to the security strategy implemented by the government of President Nayib Bukele. Fisher also said that Salvadorans told him that they feel much safer than before.

“I know I will return, at least to visit the famous beaches El Tunco, El Zonte, and El Cuco. I hope to take the rest of my family with me,” said Marla Jo Fisher of The Orange Country Register, Illinois, about her visit to El Salvador.
