The British rating company QS Quacquarelli Symonds released the results of the QS World University Rankings 2025, which measures the performance of educational institutions in various areas.

The results of the QS World University Rankings 2025, prepared and published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the world’s leading UK-based provider of services, analysis and expertise for the global higher education sector, have been released.
This ranking measures the performance of educational institutions in key areas such as academic reputation, graduate employability, internationalization and research quality.
The QS World University Rankings 2025 is the largest ever, with more than 1,500 universities from 105 higher education systems. The United States is the most represented country or territory, with 197 institutions ranked, followed by the United Kingdom with 90 and mainland China with 71.
For the 13th consecutive year, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) maintains its reign at the top. Imperial College London moves up four places to take second place, with Oxford University and Harvard University in third and fourth place respectively. The University of Cambridge completes the top five.
CENTRAL AMERICAN REGION
There are 93 universities from Central America in this year’s ranking, with Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama represented at least once along with Mexico.
The University of Costa Rica (public) ranks first in the region and 20th in the Latin American ranking.
It is followed by the National University of Costa Rica in second place and ranked 83rd in Latin America, then the Technological Institute of Costa Rica (public) and 86th in the Latin American region.
The Universidad Latina de Costa Rica was recognized as one of the #1 private universities in the region (sixth in the region), according to the QS Ranking 2025 in Latin America.
In addition, Universidad Latina was the Costa Rican institution that grew the most compared to the previous year, climbing 30 positions in the ranking.
The Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá (public) is ranked 4th in the Central American region and 137th in Latin America.
The Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, the oldest and largest public university in the country and ranked 146th in the subcontinent, appears in fifth place in the regional ranking.
The Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología, from Costa Rica, is ranked #7 in the regional ranking, followed by the Universidad Rafael Landivar at #8, the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala at #9 (both from Guatemala) and the Universidad de Panamá (public) at #10.
