The Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador (BCR) announced that it is legal to use coins of $0.50 cents and establishments must accept them in the country.

“These coins can be used for any payment or transaction in our country”, said the BCR in social networks.
In the same post, the BCR responded to the doubts of users who asked the question about whether the $2 bills are already legal, answering that in the country they are already legal tender.
The banking institution indicated that these currencies can be “used for any payment or transaction” in the Salvadoran territory.
In addition, the $0.50 coin is known as “half dollar” and is silver in color, as well as slightly larger and heavier than the $0.25.
